Gov. Henry McMaster is vowing to go as far as he needs to after appealing a U.S. District Court judge’s decision to preliminary enjoin a provision in the state budget banning state school districts from setting aside state funds to implement or enforce mask mandates.
“I completely disagree with a federal judge temporarily blocking parents from choosing if their child should wear a mask in school,” McMaster said in an governor's office release. “We already filed a notice of appeal and will take this fight to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.”
In formally filing the state’s Notice of Appeal and emergency motion before the Fourth Circuit, the governor was joined by Attorney General Alan Wilson joined the governor’s Notice of Appeal and Emergency Motion.
