With an investment of more than $2 million for a new operations center, food manufacturing and distributing company Mira International Foods will bring 28 jobs to Beaufort County.

The facility will help meet the increasing demand for Mira’s snack food and beverage products, which includes various coconut waters, a line of sauces, milks and sugars, according to a governor's office press release.

The new Beaufort facility, located at 20 Eleanore Fine Road, is expected to begin operations in January.

“Mira is excited to invest in South Carolina and partner with its constituents to robustly grow the business,” Mark and Monica Awadalla, owners of New Jersey-based Mira International Foods, said. “Beaufort, South Carolina, is a strategic location, which allows us to harness the talents of a growing and vibrant workforce, often with the benefit of rigorous military experience.”

The Awadallas described the location is “optimal” as it is situated between Charleston and Savannah, Georgia.

Mira has been in operations for more than four decades and works with over 30,000 retailers throughout the U.S., according to the release.
