Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on August 12.
Georgetown, SC – Morant and Morant Law Firm, located at 1022 Prince Street, Georgetown, South Carolina 29440 has been named the August 2021 Business of the Month recipient by the Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce. This monthly recognition of members of the Chamber is generously sponsored by South Atlantic Bank. Morant and Morant Law Firm has been a member in good standing of the Georgetown County Chamber since 2006.
Morant and Morant Law Firm was formed in Georgetown County in 1983 by brothers Johnny Morant, Sr. and Louis Morant with concentration on personal injury, real estate - purchase, sale, heirs property, domestic - Family Court, probate. Louis Morant graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law and Savannah State University. Morant currently serves as Chairman of the Georgetown County Council, being elected to that position in January 2021.
Johnny Morant, Sr. passed away in July 2020 and is survived by his wife, Janice, and their two children. He graduated from Savannah State University and the University of Illinois’ Law School. Johnny Morant, Sr. was elected to Georgetown County Council in 1993, and served as its chairman from 2008 until his retirement in 2018.
“Business ownership in Georgetown County, especially with it being my hometown, it gives us the opportunity to give back and assist others”, stated Louis Morant. “Owning a business in Georgetown gives that great sense of pride and encouragement and enthusiasm to go forward, to let others know also that you don’t have to be all the way somewhere else in order to succeed”.

Criteria for Business of the Month recognition:
The criteria considered when selecting a business for the “Business of the Month” acknowledgment is as such: the business must be a Georgetown County Chamber of Commerce member for at least one year and be actively engaged with the Chamber; the business must provide superior customer service and/or products; the business must be considered a successful and professional business by its peers; the business must strive for outstanding public service contribution; and, the business must be locally-operated.
