Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is calling on all of his fellow Republicans to continue to support Donald Trump if they want to win both the House and Senate majorities in the 2022 election.
Graham went on Sean Hannity’s show on Tuesday and asked his fellow Republicans to stop arguing with each other and start working together to regain the majority in the House and Senate. He added that continuing to support Donald Trump is the only way for them to win big in 2022.
He said, “If we could get behind President Trump and follow his lead, we will win in 2022. If we argue with ourselves, we’re going to lose. And there’s no reason to lose.”
The division that Graham was referring to was during Trump's second impeachment trial. Trump was acquitted but prior to the vote Republican senators publicly rebuked him and blamed him for the insurrection that happened at the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was one of several Republicans who spoke against Trump, accusing him of inciting the riot. Graham said that this kind of action will only deepen the divide between the Republican Party.
Graham said Republicans should be united in their support of Trump and be united in helping their party retake the majority in next year’s election.
