South Carolina advanced to match play at the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Championship following a playoff victory on April 24. The Gamecocks secured their spot after junior Brock Blais made birdie on hole 14 and freshman Talan Harrison sank a 15-foot birdie putt on hole 16 during a three-for-one playoff for the final place in match play.

The result holds significance as it marks South Carolina’s fourth appearance in match play since the format was introduced in 2017, and their first since 2021. The team will face top-ranked Auburn in the quarterfinals, aiming for their first semifinal berth.

In the playoff, five players from South Carolina, Arkansas, and Georgia competed across holes 14 through 18. All five scores counted toward each team’s total. The Gamecocks finished one-under par while both Arkansas and Georgia finished one-over par, ensuring South Carolina’s advancement.

It was also a record-setting week for South Carolina at Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course. The team set a new program record with a three-round score of twelve-under-par (828) over fifty-four holes in twenty-four all-time SEC Championship appearances at this venue. Their opening round score of eight-under-par (272) is also now an eighteen-hole program record at Sea Island.

Redshirt senior Frankie Harris led South Carolina with a tie for seventh place individually after shooting eight-under-par over three rounds (66-66-70). Harrison finished tied for twenty-fourth with four-under-par while Blais ended tied for thirty-eighth at one-under-par. Marek Fleming and Zach Adams rounded out the lineup finishing tied forty-fifth and seventy-second respectively.

The quarterfinal against Auburn is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m., with live scoring available via Clippd and live coverage of semifinals provided by SEC Network+.
