Daniel Robinson, a 24-year-old geologist from South Carolina, has been missing since June 23 when he left a job site in Buckeye, Arizona, police said.

“The story of Daniel Robinson from SC a geologist gone missing in AZ is  truly heartbreaking,” former South Carolina state representative Bakari Sellers tweeted. “His father has been leading efforts to search for him with no luck. Also no coverage from local SC media.”

The search for Robinson has included a drone, helicopter and utility vehicles, the Buckeye police department said in a news release.

“On July 19, 2021, a landowner spotted Daniel’s Jeep in a ravine,” the news release said. “Because of the rough terrain, the vehicle was not clearly visible to crews searching by air and on foot. The vehicle had significant damage. Later that month, on July 31, 2021, a human skull was located in an area south of where the Jeep had been recovered. It was later determined the remains do not belong to Daniel.”

No other human remains have been found, according to police.

“Other remains recovered during searches were determined to be animal bones,” police said.

Robinson graduated from college in 2019 and obtained a job as a field geologist in Phoenix, his father, David Robinson II, wrote on a gofundme page.

“He oversees many sites located in remote desert locations, often working in extreme conditions and traveling long distances to work on  projects,” the father wrote. “Daniel has an innate passion for adventure and is known to travel in inopportune moments. However, he always communicates with friends and family about his travel plans.”

The investigation into his disappearance “is not progressing” David Robinson II wrote.

The fundraiser will pay for a private investigator, flyers, a desert search and rescue team and other expenses, the father said.

“It’s been over three months since our son, geologist Daniel Robinson, went missing from his job site in Buckeye, AZ.,” the family posted Sept. 28. “I am still fighting for him. I thank you all for everything you do to Help Find Daniel. Thank you! GOD BLESS YOU!! “

Buckeye police are asking anyone with information on the case to call the department’s non-emergency number at 623-349-6400.
