South Carolina Track & Field athletes set two new program records during the Duke Twilight meet in Durham, North Carolina, on May 3.

The event marked the end of the regular season for the team’s distance group, with standout performances by Salma Elbadra and Elijah Poore. These achievements are significant as they improve South Carolina’s standings heading into postseason competition.

Elbadra broke her own record in the women’s 800 meter race, finishing first with a time of 2:00.55—improving her previous mark by .07 seconds. She now ranks seventh overall in NCAA standings as postseason approaches. In another record-setting performance, Poore surpassed his own program best in the men’s 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 8:52.71 to finish seventh overall.

Other notable results included Kaleb Burroughs running a personal best of 3:42.28 in the men’s 1500 meters to place fifteenth and move to third on South Carolina’s all-time leaderboard. Abigail White and Eline Mast also improved their positions on the women’s 1500 meter leaderboard, recording times of 4:19.45 and 4:23.18 respectively.

With regular season events concluded, South Carolina will shift its focus to postseason meets beginning with the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championship scheduled for May 14-16 in Auburn, Alabama.
