The South Carolina Department of Transportation requested public comments on a proposed bridge replacement project in Berkeley County.

The department is seeking feedback regarding the replacement of the bridge on S-9 (Cypress Gardens Road) over Canterhill Swamp. The purpose of the project is to address structural deficiencies in the existing bridge and to construct a new structure that meets current design and safety standards. According to the South Carolina Department of Transportation, members of the public are encouraged to review details about the project and provide questions or comments about potential impacts.

The public may submit feedback through the project website, by mail to Michael Fulmer at SCDOT, by phone at (803) 737-1834, or by email to FulmerMJ@scdot.gov. All comments received during this period will be reviewed and included in the project record. Individuals who request a response will receive one.

The department said that any information provided during this process, including names and addresses, is subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act. Additional information about this and other proposed projects can be found on SCDOT’s public involvement webpage.
