South Carolina collected $105 million in miscellaneous tax revenue during the third quarter of 2022, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Quarterly Summary of State and Local Taxes.
This is a decrease of 31.8% compared to the previous quarter, when South Carolina collected $154 million in such taxes.
Overall, South Carolina collected $4.4 billion in combined tax revenues in the third quarter of 2022.
The U.S. government collected about $4.3 trillion in tax revenue in 2021. Individual income taxes were the largest source, followed by payroll and corporate taxes, which together accounted for nearly 88% of total revenue.

The Census Bureau cautions that it sets the tax classifications among the survey categories, and they may differ from the classifications set by the state governments.
