The South Carolina Gamecocks men’s baseball team will travel to Baton Rouge for a three-game Southeastern Conference series against Louisiana State University from May 1-3. Friday’s game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time, Saturday’s at 7 p.m., and Sunday’s finale at 3 p.m. All games will be streamed on SEC Network Plus and broadcast on the Gamecock Sports Network presented by Learfield.
This matchup holds significance as both teams are looking to strengthen their positions in the conference standings. The series provides an opportunity for South Carolina to improve its record against a strong LSU squad that has recently won national championships in both 2023 and 2025 under head coach Jay Johnson.
The probable pitching rotation lists Amp Phillips (3-5, 3.27 ERA) starting Friday for South Carolina, with Brandon Stone (5-2, 3.60 ERA) set for Saturday. Both Sunday starters remain undecided. For LSU, William Schmidt (4-4, 4.17 ERA) is expected to pitch Friday and Marcos Paz (0-2, 7.23 ERA) on Saturday.
LSU enters the series after defeating SE Louisiana with a score of 12-4 earlier this week, highlighted by Derek Curiel’s performance at the plate going three-for-four with three runs scored. Curiel leads the Tigers’ offense with a .346 batting average while Cade Arrambide has contributed thirteen home runs and thirty-five runs batted in this season.
Historically, LSU holds a slight edge over South Carolina in their all-time meetings with a record of forty-six wins, thirty-three losses, and one tie heading into Friday’s contest. The last time these teams met in Baton Rouge was in 2021 when South Carolina took two out of three games during that visit.
Looking ahead, South Carolina will pause midweek play for final exams before returning home to host Alabama beginning May 8.
