South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has called on Alphabet and Google, the parent companies of YouTube, to keep Univision available in YouTube TV’s base streaming package. In a letter sent Monday, Wilson was joined by attorneys general from nine other states.

“Univision is the largest provider of Spanish-language content in the United States and the number one network among U.S. Hispanics, which makes it a vital service that needs to continue to be available on YouTube TV’s base package,” said Attorney General Wilson. “It’s a lifeline for local news, cultural programming, and critical information that ensures Hispanic families are active and informed participants in our democracy.”

The group of attorneys general expressed concerns that removing Univision from the standard offering could raise legal issues under state laws. They asked Alphabet and Google executives to reconsider moving Univision to a separate channel tier requiring an extra $14.99 per month.

Attorneys general from Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Montana, Ohio, Texas, Utah, and Virginia joined Wilson in signing the letter.
