Sodecia Aapico Joint Venture (JV), a partnership between global automotive manufacturers SODECIA and AAPICO, has announced plans to establish its first South Carolina operation in Orangeburg County. The company will invest $120 million in the new facility, which is expected to create up to 392 jobs.
The Orangeburg location will serve as a key supplier for Scout Motors, an automotive manufacturer building a new production center in Blythewood, South Carolina. The 400,000-square-foot facility at 4100 St. Matthews Road will focus on manufacturing advanced ladder frames primarily for SUV and truck models.
Construction of the plant is scheduled for completion in 2027. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits for the project.
SODECIA, headquartered in Portugal, operates more than 40 locations worldwide and specializes in structural components and powertrain systems. AAPICO, based in Thailand, is a publicly listed company with over three decades of experience producing automotive parts such as chassis frame components and plastic parts.
