South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Klaus Meierdierks, 42, from Simpsonville, South Carolina. Meierdierks faces four charges related to the sexual exploitation of a minor. The arrest was carried out by investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force within the Attorney General’s Office, with assistance from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation began after a CyberTipline report was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). According to investigators, Meierdierks is accused of producing child sexual abuse material.
Meierdierks was taken into custody on November 14, 2025. He has been charged with four counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor under South Carolina law (§16-15-395), which is classified as a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison for each count.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case.
Attorney General Wilson stated: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
The press release also clarifies that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used as a more accurate term for these crimes instead of “child pornography,” which can wrongly suggest consent by minors. The term CSAM is being adopted globally for this reason.
