Bryan Michael Christie, a 49-year-old resident of Simpsonville, South Carolina, has been arrested on a charge related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was made by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, which is part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office, also a member of the ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.
The investigation began after a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) was received. Authorities allege that Christie distributed files containing child sexual abuse material.
Christie was taken into custody on July 24, 2025. He faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor in the second degree under state law (§16-15-405), which is classified as a felony and carries a possible sentence of up to ten years in prison.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case.
Attorney General Alan Wilson emphasized due process in this matter: “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used as the term for these crimes because it more accurately describes the nature of the offenses. The use of “pornography” may imply consent by minors, so CSAM is being adopted globally to avoid this implication.
