Signature Foods USA announced on Apr. 2 that it has selected Anderson County for its first South Carolina operation, investing $11.5 million and creating 202 new jobs at a new manufacturing facility in Easley.
The move is significant as it marks the company’s first manufacturing presence in the United States, bringing economic growth and job opportunities to the region. The facility will produce refrigerated prepared foods such as dips and spreads for retail grocery stores’ deli sections.
Peter Dornbos, CEO of Signature Foods USA, said, “After a long selection process, Anderson County in South Carolina was our number one choice for starting the first U.S. operation for our Dutch Group, Signature Foods NL. We believe that this location in Easley will be the foundation for the long-term growth of our business in the U.S. We would like to thank all people, companies and government officials involved in this project for their support.”
Governor Henry McMaster said, “South Carolina’s strong business-friendly reputation makes it the ideal location for Signature Foods USA’s new operation. The addition of 202 new jobs will have a great impact on Anderson County, and we look forward to the company’s success in our state.” McMaster prioritized supporting South Carolinians through economic development, public safety, education and heritage preservation according to the official website according to the official website. Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III congratulated Signature Foods USA on its investment: “Congratulations to Signature Foods USA on establishing operations here in the Palmetto State. With an investment of $11.5 million, the company will further South Carolina’s economic development in the Upstate.” Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers added that this facility would expand agribusiness opportunities by adding value to locally grown foods.
Anderson County Councilman Jimmy Davis highlighted local benefits: “Signature Foods USA’s decision to establish operations in Anderson County reflects the strength of our business climate and quality workforce… This project represents meaningful, long‑term opportunity for our community.” John Lummus from Upstate SC Alliance also welcomed Signature Foods’ arrival as evidence that global food companies can succeed locally.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to this project along with a $400,000 Set-Aside grant awarded to assist with building improvements and wastewater upgrades.
