Signature Foods USA announces $11.5 million investment and 202 jobs in Anderson County

Signature Foods USA announced on Apr. 2 that it has selected Anderson County for its first South Carolina operation, investing $11.5 million and creating 202 new jobs.

The company, which produces specialty refrigerated prepared foods, is opening its first U.S. manufacturing facility at 211 Pine Road in Easley. This move marks Signature Foods USA’s expansion from its headquarters in New York City to the Upstate region of South Carolina.

According to Signature Foods USA CEO Peter Dornbos, “After a long selection process, Anderson County in South Carolina was our number one choice for starting the first U.S. operation for our Dutch Group, Signature Foods NL. We believe that this location in Easley will be the foundation for the long-term growth of our business in the U.S. We would like to thank all people, companies and government officials involved in this project for their support.” Operations at the new plant are already underway.

Governor Henry McMaster said, “South Carolina’s strong business-friendly reputation makes it the ideal location for Signature Foods USA’s new operation. The addition of 202 new jobs will have a great impact on Anderson County, and we look forward to the company’s success in our state.” According to the official website, Henry McMaster leads as governor of South Carolina and serves residents by supporting economic development initiatives according to the official website.

Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III added, “Congratulations to Signature Foods USA on establishing operations here in the Palmetto State. With an investment of $11.5 million, the company will further South Carolina’s economic development in the Upstate.” Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers said he is glad to welcome Signature Foods USA and noted that “this manufacturing facility will not only expand South Carolina’s agribusiness industry but will also provide opportunities to add value to foods grown by South Carolina farmers.” The Coordinating Council for Economic Development approved job development credits related to this project and awarded a $400,000 Set-Aside grant for building improvements and wastewater system upgrades.

Anderson County Councilman Jimmy Davis stated that “Signature Foods USA’s decision… reflects the strength of our business climate and quality workforce,” emphasizing benefits such as good-paying jobs directly impacting families locally.
