Seven members of the Furman University women’s lacrosse team were recognized by the Big South Conference with postseason awards, including graduate student Shae Insinga being named Newcomer of the Year, according to an April 30 announcement from the league office.
The recognition highlights individual achievements for Furman’s athletes during a competitive season. Insinga also earned spots on both the first team All-Big South and All-Academic Team. Other Paladins honored include junior Allie Kandel and sophomore Lily Toole on second team All-Big South, juniors Lilly Dyer and Zoe Milmoe with honorable mention nods, and freshmen Emily Muir and Cate Noone on the All-Freshman Team.
Insinga is noted as Furman’s first-ever recipient of Big South Newcomer of the Year. She ranks second in points and goals for her team this season, third in goals within the conference, and seventh in points. Nationally, she is tied for 36th in goals scored. Insinga had 14 multi-goal games this year and achieved career highs across several categories while reaching milestones such as surpassing 100 career goals, points, and draws.
Kandel posted a personal best season with 49 points—third-most goals on her team—and was recognized as Big South Offensive Player of the Week on March 17 after setting new highs in scoring against UMass Lowell. Toole led Furman in scoring this year with 70 points (50 goals), topping all players in conference points while placing among national leaders; she was previously Freshman of the Year for Big South in 2025.
Dyer appeared in all games this season leading her squad with ground balls while ranking tenth conference-wide for caused turnovers. Milmoe started every game as well, leading Furman defenders with caused turnovers. Freshmen Muir contributed offensively throughout her debut campaign while Noone made an impact at draw controls.
The full list of honorees also includes representatives from Mercer University, High Point University, Wofford College, Presbyterian College, Gardner-Webb University, Longwood University, Radford University and Winthrop University across various award categories.
