The senior student exhibit at the Lander University Art Gallery closed on Tuesday, Nov. 29, with a reception honoring exhibiting artists Desmond Ashford, a visual arts major from Columbia; Aiyana Gaines, a visual arts major from Lugoff; and Allison Devore, a graphic design major from Saluda. Devore, right, who also works as a freelance photographer, is shown leading a discussion of one of her works.

Joint department program announces incentives for South Carolina residents to earn secondary diploma.

The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) and the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of Adult Education (SCDE) created a partnership program called the General Education Development (GED) Inventive Program. The program offers residents the chance to earn their GED free of charge and receive a one time $500 payment if they pass the exam.

Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) today signed into a law a bill that would create an Educational Scholarship Trust Fund to allow some South Carolina parents “to enroll their children in the school of their choice.”
