U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham from South Carolina has collaborated with fellow lawmakers to reintroduce the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act. This proposed legislation aims to enable individuals who have concealed carry rights in their home states to exercise those rights across state lines, provided they comply with the laws of the states they visit.
Graham emphasized the importance of personal protection, stating, “Personal protection should not end at a state line.” He expressed pride in introducing a bill that he believes strengthens Second Amendment rights for responsible firearm owners.
The bill is spearheaded by U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas and has garnered support from Senate Majority Leader John Thune of South Dakota and numerous other senators including Ted Cruz, Thom Tillis, Chuck Grassley, Kevin Cramer, Tommy Tuberville, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Bill Hagerty, Mike Lee, Tom Cotton, Jim Risch, Marsha Blackburn, Pete Ricketts, Roger Marshall, Rick Scott, James Lankford, Katie Britt, Bill Cassidy, Cynthia Lummis, Ted Budd, Ron Johnson, Tim Sheehy, Mike Crapo, Steve Daines among others.
The act proposes that concealed carry permits issued by individual states be treated similarly to drivers’ licenses. This would allow permit holders to carry firearms across state lines while adhering to local regulations.
Support for this legislation comes from several organizations including the National Shooting Sports Foundation and the National Rifle Association.
