U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) visited Lockheed Martin’s facility in Greenville, South Carolina, where the F-16 Fighting Falcon is produced. During his visit, Senator Scott met with employees and learned about their work on the F-16 program. The site also supports operations for other aircraft models.
After touring the facility, Senator Scott spoke to reporters at a warehouse located in an Opportunity Zone near the plant. He highlighted the importance of Lockheed Martin’s presence in South Carolina and its impact on national security.
“There’s no doubt that Lockheed Martin plays a significant role here in South Carolina. More than 1,600 employees work on the F-16, another several hundred work on the 35s,” said Senator Scott. “The partnership between South Carolina and Lockheed Martin is a marvel for our state and for our country. Every single employee I met here – they are proud of the work they do in defending America and providing freedom to the world.”
He added: “When you come to work every single day and recognize that your job isn’t just putting an aircraft together – it’s actually defending freedom – it is a remarkable job that you have. They make us proud – the strongest, most powerful force for good in the workforce – the best in the country, is here at home in South Carolina.”
The Greenville facility employs over 1,600 people working on F-16 production lines and hundreds more supporting other projects such as the F-35.
