U.S. Senator Tim Scott has expressed his support for President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Scott Bessent as the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury. Bessent, a native of South Carolina, is recognized for his business acumen and understanding of economic stewardship.

Senator Scott, who serves on the Senate Finance Committee and is the leading Republican on the Senate Banking Committee, stated: “Scott Bessent has lived the American Dream, built a successful business from the ground up, and has a deep understanding of what it means to be a good steward of our nation’s economy.”

He further emphasized his eagerness to collaborate with Bessent on initiatives such as expanding Opportunity Zones and reforming the tax code to promote growth and investment across America. “We also must ensure our economic national security tools – including sanctions, illicit finance protections, and export controls – work together to advance our national security interests,” Scott added.

The senator expressed confidence in Bessent’s extensive experience in job creation and economic management, suggesting that it will benefit both President Trump and the broader American public.
