U.S. Senator Tim Scott, a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, recently met with Dr. David Weldon. Dr. Weldon is President Trump’s nominee to lead the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Senator Scott expressed his thoughts following the meeting: “It was great to sit down with Dr. Weldon to discuss the agency’s critical mission in protecting public health. From tracking and responding to infectious disease outbreaks to advancing preventative care, the CDC plays a vital role in keeping Americans safe.”

He further highlighted the importance of having an effective and accountable CDC, especially in light of recent years’ events: “The past few years have shown us how critical it is to have a CDC that is both effective and accountable to the American people. I look forward to working together to strengthen our public health system, improve preparedness, and build a healthier, safer future for all.”
