U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) met with members of the South Carolina National Guard in Washington, D.C., to express appreciation for their service and discuss their ongoing mission. The meeting follows President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to the nation’s capital in an effort to restore safety and security.

“President Trump made the right decision in deploying the National Guard to restore order and safeguard our nation’s capital,” said Senator Scott. “The men and women of the National Guard represent the principles that keep our country strong, and I am grateful for their commitment to public safety and the security of vulnerable citizens.”

The deployment is part of federal efforts aimed at maintaining order in Washington, D.C., during a period of heightened concern about public safety.
