U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina has released a review of his activities and accomplishments throughout 2024, focusing on efforts to benefit his constituents and advance his Opportunity Agenda nationwide.

“I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished this year on behalf of South Carolinians, and I look forward to tackling all the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead next year,” said Senator Scott. He emphasized his commitment to affecting “the lives of a billion people with a message of hope and opportunity.”

During the year, Senator Scott introduced 42 bills, nine resolutions, and 16 amendments. His office also assisted over 6,000 South Carolinians with casework requests and maintained communication by sending more than 26,000 letters.

In response to Hurricane Helene and Milton’s impact on the region, Scott championed legislation to replenish the SBA Disaster Loan Program and FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund. These efforts secured $29 billion for FEMA’s fund and $2.25 billion for the SBA program.

Scott also introduced the Unlocking Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2024 to enhance American energy independence by changing regulatory processes related to liquefied natural gas exports. Additionally, he collaborated with fellow lawmakers in supporting infrastructure projects like bridge replacements in South Carolina.

As Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Scott advanced policies aimed at economic growth while scrutinizing various federal regulations. His legislative efforts included introducing acts focused on housing affordability and combating illicit fentanyl trade.

In education, Scott recognized charter schools’ contributions through a resolution during National Charter Schools Week. He also pushed for campus safety through the Antisemitism Awareness Act.

On healthcare issues, Scott advocated for improved access to care through various legislative initiatives such as reauthorizing programs for sickle cell disease treatment. He also supported resolutions highlighting health awareness months.

To address law enforcement concerns, he introduced multiple acts including those focused on DUI prevention and border security.

In national security matters, Scott stood firm in support of Israel against adversarial actions at international forums like the United Nations. He proposed legislation such as the Stand with Israel Act aimed at curtailing U.S. funding under specific conditions related to Israel’s status in these bodies.

Further demonstrating his focus on global security dynamics, Scott introduced measures addressing Chinese government-linked companies’ influence in U.S. defense procurement processes.

The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2025 included several initiatives spearheaded by Scott that benefit South Carolina institutions like HBCUs through enhanced partnerships and funding allocations.
