U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) issued a statement today regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk. In his remarks, Scott condemned the act and called for an end to political violence.

“Lord, come quickly. The assassination of Charlie Kirk is heartbreaking, disgusting, and disturbing. This political violence must end. This is not who we are as Americans. Charlie embodied how to debate our differences. He did it through words, not violence.

“When I spoke with Charlie the other week, we discussed Ephesians 2 about finding one’s identity in Christ. ‘For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.’

“Charlie was a champion for our conservative cause, but above all, he was a husband, a father, and an ardent supporter of our conservative values rooted in faith.”

No further details about the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death were provided at this time.
