U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham announced the passage of the Laken Riley Act in the U.S. Senate with a vote of 64-35. The legislation, introduced by Senator Katie Boyd Britt, received support from Graham as an original cosponsor.

Graham stated, “After a long, hard fight, we have finally passed the Laken Riley Act. Hats off to Senator Britt for her leadership and determination.”

The act aims to ensure that illegal immigrants charged with crimes can be detained and deported swiftly. Graham highlighted a case involving Laken Riley, who was murdered by an illegal immigrant previously arrested for theft and released.

Graham concluded his statement by expressing his support: “I was proud to support this legislation.”
