U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-S.C.) voted in favor of a continuing resolution that the Senate passed to fund the federal government through January 30, 2026. The legislation also includes three bipartisan, year-long appropriations bills.

The Senate’s action comes after a 41-day government shutdown. In a statement, Sen. Scott said, “After 41 days of a needless government shutdown, tonight enough Democrats finally joined Republicans in putting people before politics by voting to fund and reopen the government.” He added, “I urge my colleagues in the House to act quickly and pass this bipartisan funding package so hardworking Americans can get their paychecks and vulnerable South Carolinians who rely on SNAP and WIC can access essential programs.”

The funding package contains provisions for key programs such as SNAP, WIC, and veterans services for the entire fiscal year. The measure now moves to the U.S. House of Representatives for further consideration.
