Kevin Bishop, the longtime Communications Director of U.S. Senator Lindey Graham (R-SC) has announced that he will be retiring from the position and from the U.S. Senate.
Bishop has worked with Graham since 1997 when he started as Press Secretary while Graham was serving in the U.S. House of Representatives for South Carolina’s Third Congressional District. Bishop has been Graham’s sole communications director in the Senate since he was first elected in 2002.
“For more than 25 years, Kevin has served the people of South Carolina exceedingly well. I, along with the people of South Carolina, have benefitted from his work on their behalf,” Graham said in a press release. “Kevin’s understanding of policy and politics at the state and national level is second-to-none. He has been an invaluable advisor and friend — and at times, a sparring partner on the issues.”
“For the past 27 years, I have had a front-row seat to history,” said Bishop. “I consider myself to be incredibly fortunate to have met and worked with him. I will always be proud of my years of service in support of Lindsey and being part of the team.”
Rep. Linsey Graham is a South Carolina native. Before serving in Congress, Graham served in the U.S. Air Force. He was active duty from 1984-1989, after which he joined the South Carolina Air National Guard until 1995 when he entered the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He left the Air Force in 2015 at the rank of Colonel. He was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994, and was first elected to the Senate in 2002.
