The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced that it will close the westbound lane of Alligator Road in Florence County for repairs starting March 23.

According to the department, work is expected to be completed by March 26, depending on weather conditions. Drivers are encouraged to consider alternative routes if possible during this period.

Access to homes and businesses along Alligator Road will not be restricted during the repair work. Signs and message boards will be placed throughout the area to guide drivers through the work zone.

The department asks that drivers slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when traveling through the affected area.
