The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is inviting public feedback on a proposed amendment to the 2024-2033 Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP). The amendment seeks to include the SCDOT/NCDOT I-77 Coordination Project, which aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of Interstate 77 at the border between North Carolina and South Carolina.
Public comments will be accepted from November 3, 2025, until November 23, 2025. The project involves collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and includes preliminary engineering, rights of way acquisition, and construction activities. It focuses on improving mobility and connectivity between the two states while considering financial, engineering, and legal aspects.
As part of this initiative, SCDOT will take over management responsibilities from York County for improvements at Exit 90 to support the corridor’s overall functionality. The estimated cost for this phase is $3 million.
