The South Carolina Department of Transportation announced on March 27 that it is requesting public comments on the proposed replacement of the US 15 Southbound Bridge over the Pocotaligo River in Sumter County. The project aims to address structural deficiencies associated with the existing bridge and will involve replacing the current structure and constructing the roadway to meet current design and safety standards.

According to the department, members of the public can learn more about the project by visiting its website at projectportal.scdot.org/US15-SB-over-pocotaligo-river. Comments will be accepted through April 22, 2026. Individuals may submit feedback using an online comment form available on the project website, by mail addressed to Tyler Davis at SCDOT, 955 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201, by phone at (803) 737-1854, or via email to DavisTW@scdot.gov.

The department encourages residents and stakeholders to review information about potential impacts of the proposed work and provide questions or comments. All submissions received during this period will be reviewed and included in the official project record. Those who request a response after submitting a comment will receive one.

The department also notes that any information provided during this process—including names and addresses—is subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.

For additional details about this and other proposed projects from SCDOT, interested parties are directed to visit its public involvement webpage as listed on the official roster page.
