The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced the temporary closure and detour of the Sunny Plain Road bridge over Interstate 26 in Calhoun County. The closure, set to begin on July 21, is part of the I-26 Widening and Improvements Project aimed at facilitating the widening of the interstate.

The bridge replacement is expected to continue until fall 2026. During this period, a detour will be implemented using US 21, Caw Caw Highway, and US 176. SCDOT advises drivers to slow down and remain attentive when navigating near the work zone.
