The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans to temporarily close and detour a section of Black Tom Road in Berkeley County for road work starting the week of July 20. The closure is expected to last until August, weather permitting. Updates on the closure will be available on message boards in the area.

During this period, crews will focus on intersection improvements as part of the US 176 and Black Tom Road Improvements Project. These efforts aim to enhance traffic flow at the intersection.

“SCDOT appreciates the public’s patience as we work to move this project forward,” said a representative from SCDOT. “We ask that you please slow down and pay attention to crews and signage when driving near the work zone.”
