The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced plans to replace the Veterans Road bridges over the South Edisto River in Aiken County. The project is set to commence in early January 2026 and will involve both demolition and reconstruction of the two existing bridges. The completion date is projected for summer 2027.

To accommodate this construction, a detour route has been established, with a map available online. SCDOT urges drivers to reduce speed and remain vigilant for signs and workers in the area during this period.
