The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced a public meeting to discuss a proposed intersection improvement project in Darlington County. The meeting is scheduled for January 29, 2026, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Darlington County Public Library, located at 204 North Main Street, Darlington, SC.

The project involves constructing a roundabout at the intersection of US 401 (Lamar Hwy.) and S-13 (S. Center Road). According to SCDOT, the goal is to enhance traffic safety by decreasing crash frequency and severity. This initiative is part of the Highway Safety Improvement Program, which identifies high-risk areas using data analysis and implements necessary infrastructure improvements.

Public input on the project will be accepted until February 13, 2026. More details can be found on SCDOT’s project portal.
