U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham, Tom Cotton, and Katie Britt have introduced a resolution that defines what they consider an acceptable outcome for U.S. negotiations with Iran concerning its nuclear program. The resolution was announced at a press conference held by Graham and Cotton.

Senator Graham expressed concerns about the potential threat posed by Iran if it were to acquire a nuclear weapon, stating, “If Iran ever successfully acquired a nuclear weapon, I believe they would use it to further their radical religious regime.” He emphasized the need for Iran to dismantle its entire nuclear program, allowing only for a peaceful nuclear power program without enrichment capabilities.

Senator Cotton criticized the foreign policy of the Biden administration, claiming it allowed Iran opportunities to develop nuclear weapons and rebuild its economy. He referred to President Trump’s previous policies as successful in applying pressure on Iran.

Senator Britt praised President Trump for his global leadership and advocacy for Israel’s security. She joined her colleagues in supporting the complete dismantlement of Iran’s nuclear program as essential for protecting allies and national security.

The resolution commends the Trump Administration’s direct talks with Iran regarding its nuclear program. It acknowledges the need to address Iran’s historical non-compliance and hostility towards Israel in any negotiations. Furthermore, it affirms support for dismantling Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and establishing an Agreement for Peaceful Nuclear Cooperation under section 123 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954. This agreement would require Iran to adhere to additional verification protocols by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and abandon uranium enrichment activities.

The full text of the resolution is available online, along with footage from the press conference hosted by Senators Graham and Cotton.
