The Presbyterian College baseball team secured a 6-5 win against Radford on April 24, opening their series with a walk-off victory at the PC Baseball Complex.
The game was highlighted by Cam Mallo’s performance, who hit a three-run home run in the second inning and later drove in the winning run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth. This win brings Presbyterian’s record to 10-33 overall and 6-10 in Big South play.
Presbyterian started strong, scoring four runs in the second inning after back-to-back doubles from Amman Dewberry and Emory Guilford, followed by Mallo’s home run. Dewberry added another run with a solo homer in the third. Radford responded by narrowing the gap, scoring twice in the fifth and tying it up with three runs in the sixth.
Both teams’ bullpens kept offenses quiet until late. Robbie Boykin pitched effectively for Presbyterian, entering during the sixth inning and allowing just two base runners over 3.2 innings while striking out three batters to earn his second win of the season. Tyrell Williams started for Presbyterian, recording four strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Several players had notable performances: Dewberry went 2-for-4 with his eighth home run of the year and extended his hitting streak to eight games; Guilford collected two hits including two doubles; James Green reached base for his seventeenth consecutive game; Boykin posted a season-high number of innings pitched out of relief.
This marks Presbyterian’s second walk-off win this season—the first coming against Akron on February 13—and sets up anticipation for game two of their series against Radford scheduled for Saturday afternoon.
