The Presbyterian Blue Hose men’s golf team won its first Big South Championship title after defeating High Point in the semifinals and USC Upstate in the finals, according to an April 29 announcement.

This victory is significant for the program, marking a milestone as their first conference championship. The win also secures an automatic bid for Presbyterian to participate in the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Thomas Addison said, “Winning the Big South has been the goal of our program for a long time. Finally, to have it happen with this particular group of guys has been really special. I hope all of the golf alumni realize that they laid the foundation for this team to find such success at the DI level. We’ve got a great group of guys on this team who put in the work every day, and we hope to keep this momentum going into NCAA Regionals and next year.”

In match play finals against USC Upstate, James Rhodes gave Presbyterian its first point with a decisive win. Jeep Patrick added another point before Spence Hagood clinched both semifinal and final matches for his team, including winning on the second playoff hole against Alex Prentice from USC Upstate.

The Blue Hose will now prepare for their appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The field will be announced May 6 on Golf Channel.
