Presbyterian defeats UNC Asheville to advance in Big South tennis tournament

The Presbyterian Blue Hose men’s tennis team defeated the UNC Asheville Bulldogs, 4-0, in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament at the Lexington County Tennis Complex in Lexington, South Carolina, on April 16.

This win allows Presbyterian to move forward to the semifinals of the conference tournament. The victory came after strong performances in both doubles and singles matches.

Presbyterian secured the doubles point for the twelfth time this season with wins on courts two and three. Dario Navarro and Daksh Prasad earned a 6-4 win at number two doubles, while Thomas Anderson and Eduardo Valentin clinched the point with a 7-6 victory at number three doubles.

In singles play, Eduardo Valentin won his match against Harrison Cooper (6-2, 6-3) at number four singles. David Mamalat followed with a straight-set win over Daniel Franco-Key (6-3, 6-3) at number two singles. Navarro then sealed Presbyterian’s overall victory by defeating Martin Fuks (6-3, 6-2) at number six singles.

Presbyterian will next face top seed Gardner-Webb in the semifinals of the Big South Championship on Friday, April 17, also held at Lexington County Tennis Complex.
