The Presbyterian College baseball team lost the first game of its three-game series against The Citadel, 7-2, at the PC Baseball Complex on May 1.

The loss puts Presbyterian at a record of 10-36 overall and 6-12 in Big South play. The result is significant as it affects the team’s standing in conference competition and sets the tone for the remainder of the series.

Amman Dewberry led Presbyterian with his tenth home run of the season in the sixth inning. Despite this effort, The Citadel took control early by scoring four runs in the third inning and maintained their lead throughout. Jonathan Williams brought Matthew Rollison home with a sacrifice fly RBI in the fourth, but additional runs from The Citadel in later innings secured their win.

Other notable performances for Presbyterian included Cam Mallo going two-for-three with a walk—his sixth multi-hit game this season—and hits from Bo Moody, Matthew Rollison, and Emory Guilford. Tyrell Williams started on the mound for his tenth appearance this year, pitching four innings and allowing just two hits. Robbie Boykin provided strong relief with four innings pitched, giving up only one run while striking out two batters.

Looking ahead, Presbyterian will travel to Charleston for game two of its series against The Citadel on Saturday afternoon at noon.
