The Presbyterian Blue Hose men’s golf team advanced to the Big South Championship match play as the top seed after finishing first in stroke play with a three-round score of 848, four under par, according to an announcement on April 28.
This advancement positions Presbyterian strongly for the championship, highlighting their performance throughout the tournament. Sophomore Jeep Patrick finished in a three-way tie for second place with a total score of 208, five under par. Patrick had previously won the Big South Individual title last season.
In his final round, Patrick shot a 69 with six birdies and eight pars. Junior Spence Hagood secured tenth place overall after shooting even par in his final round for a total score of 212. Freshman James Rhodes tied for thirteenth at three over par after carding five birdies in his last round. Sophomore Richard Anaclerio tied for twenty-second place at five over par and finished even on his final day. Gage Gaskins, also a sophomore, tied for thirtieth at eight over par after recording six birdies in his last round.
The All-Championship Team includes Dewi John from Charleston Southern as medalist, Alec Prentice from USC Upstate, Jeep Patrick from Presbyterian, Ashton Eubanks from Winthrop, Jack Boyer from Gardner-Webb, and Dylan Park from Winthrop.
Presbyterian is set to face High Point in the match play semifinals on Wednesday morning. High Point concluded stroke play tied for third with Winthrop at one under par (851). The other semifinal will feature USC Upstate against Winthrop; USC Upstate finished second overall at three under (849). Winners of both semifinals will compete later that afternoon for the Big South Championship title.
