South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of Vicente Tapia Diaz, 36, from North Charleston. Diaz faces six charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The Mount Pleasant Police Department, as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, made the arrest. Homeland Security Investigations, also members of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.

According to investigators, Diaz possessed files containing child sexual abuse material.

Diaz was taken into custody on August 20, 2025. He is charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree (§16-15-410), which is a felony offense that can result in up to 10 years imprisonment for each count.

The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case.

Attorney General Wilson stated: “all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

The press release notes that child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is now used instead of “child pornography” because it more accurately describes these crimes and avoids implying consent by minors.
