South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced on March 27 the arrest of Jacob Dylan Huff, 28, of North Charleston, South Carolina, on six charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was made by Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies.

The case began after a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children led investigators to Huff. Authorities said that Huff possessed files containing child sexual abuse material. He was taken into custody on March 25 and faces six counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, which is a felony punishable by up to ten years in prison for each count. The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.

Attorney General Wilson said, “All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

The South Carolina Attorney General supports victims through advocacy and resources as part of efforts to improve community safety and protection, according to the official website. The office serves as the state’s main legal advocate and enforcer in prosecutions and regulatory matters according to its official website. Wilson has served as head of this office according to official information.

The Attorney General’s operations extend statewide according to its official website, enforcing laws that include securities regulation and consumer protection as reported by the agency. Collaboration with state law enforcement agencies is also part of its role in handling criminal prosecutions across South Carolina according to its official website.

Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) is used instead of “child pornography” because it more accurately reflects crimes involving children who cannot consent.
