Preliminary architectural drawings for the new elementary school building on the old JL Mann site were shared with the school board at the May 10th Committee of the Whole Meeting.  These drawings can be viewed by clicking on the button below. The drawings will also be shared at two community meetings with opportunities provided for feedback.

 New Elementary School Drawings

The meetings will be held as follows:

  • 12:00 p.m. on May 11 at JL Mann High School during the regularly scheduled PTSA meeting
  • 6:00 p.m. on May 23 at JL Mann High School 

Greenville County Schools has mailed letters to nearby property owners to inform them of these meetings as we did for the previous community meeting regarding the zoning application for the site.  Comments and feedback relative to the preliminary drawings may be provided in person at one of the meetings or emailed to newelementary@greenville.k12.sc.us.

A Developer-Led Neighborhood Meeting took place on April 7, 2022 to discuss the construction of a new elementary school, grades PreK-5, on the Southern portion of the existing JL Mann High School athletics site.

Joint department program announces incentives for South Carolina residents to earn secondary diploma.

The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) and the South Carolina Department of Education’s Office of Adult Education (SCDE) created a partnership program called the General Education Development (GED) Inventive Program. The program offers residents the chance to earn their GED free of charge and receive a one time $500 payment if they pass the exam.

Gov. Henry McMaster (R-SC) today signed into a law a bill that would create an Educational Scholarship Trust Fund to allow some South Carolina parents “to enroll their children in the school of their choice.”
