South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced that Thomas Jarrod Hood has been sentenced to prison for Criminal Solicitation of a Minor. Hood pleaded guilty on December 19, 2024, in Georgetown County before Judge William Seals, Jr.

The conviction stems from an investigation conducted in February 2024 as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. During the operation, Hood engaged in conversations with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl and expressed intentions to engage in sexual activity. He traveled to a predetermined location in Georgetown County with the intention of meeting the minor.

Judge Seals sentenced Hood to eight years in prison, with credit for 302 days already served. Upon release, Hood will be required to register as a sex offender.

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Johnson prosecuted the case on behalf of the state.
