The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced on April 28 that the field is set for the 2026 MEAC Softball Championship, with Howard University securing the top seed after an 18-3 conference record and a 25-17 overall mark. The tournament will take place from May 6 to May 9 at TowneBank Softball Field on the campus of Norfolk State University.
The announcement matters to fans and teams in the conference as it determines matchups and seeding for one of the most important events in MEAC softball. Howard University will receive a first-round bye and play its first game at 5 p.m. on May 6 against the winner of No. 4 Norfolk State versus No. 5 Morgan State.
Delaware State earned the second seed after finishing with a record of 15-6 in conference play and an overall record of 26-16. Delaware State also receives a first-round bye, facing either No.3 South Carolina State or No.6 Coppin State at 8 p.m. on May 6.
South Carolina State claimed the third seed following a turnaround season, finishing with a conference record of 12-9, while Coppin State enters as sixth seed with an overall record of eight wins and twenty-five losses (7-14 in MEAC). Their matchup is scheduled for May 6 at 2 p.m.
Norfolk State secured fourth place (22-19 overall;12-9 conference) and will face fifth-seeded Morgan State (9-12 conference) in Game One at11a.m.onMay6.The championship game is set for noon on Saturday, May9,andwill be broadcast on ESPN+. If necessary,a second championship game will be played later that afternoon.
