Governor Henry McMaster has issued Executive Order 2025-22 to speed up the replacement of the Old Vaucluse Road I-20 overpass bridge in Aiken County. The bridge was destroyed following a tanker truck collision and fire on June 14.

The executive order declares the incident an emergency under federal guidelines, allowing the state to seek expedited assistance and reconstruction efforts. It also empowers the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) to take necessary actions for the immediate replacement of the bridge.

Additionally, Governor McMaster’s order directs SCDOT to apply for federal emergency relief funding through the Federal Highway Administration to support this project.
