A Lexington man has been arrested on charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors, according to an announcement from South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson. Christopher Robin Cardosi, 28, was taken into custody by investigators with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. The Attorney General’s Office, which is also part of the state’s ICAC Task Force, assisted in the investigation.

Authorities initiated their investigation after receiving a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Investigators allege that Cardosi possessed files containing child sexual abuse material.

Cardosi was arrested on August 14, 2025. He faces three counts of sexual exploitation of a minor in the third degree (§16-15-410), which is classified as a felony and carries a potential penalty of up to 10 years in prison for each count.

The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute the case.

Attorney General Wilson stated: “all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”

* Child sexual abuse material, or CSAM, is a more accurate reflection of the material involved in these heinous and abusive crimes. “Pornography” can imply the child was a consenting participant.  Globally, the term child pornography is being replaced by CSAM for this reason.
