South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson has announced the arrest of James Devan Martin, a 34-year-old resident of Lexington, South Carolina. The arrest relates to three charges concerning the sexual exploitation of a minor. The Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department were responsible for making the arrest.
According to investigators, Martin is accused of soliciting and engaging in criminal sexual conduct with a minor. He also allegedly sent sexually explicit images to a minor.
The arrest took place on June 26, 2025. Martin faces one count of criminal solicitation of a minor (§16-15-342), which is classified as a felony offense and carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment. Additionally, he is charged with one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor (§16-3-655) and one count of dissemination of obscene material to an individual under eighteen (§16-15-345), another felony offense punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment.
The Attorney General’s Office will prosecute this case. Attorney General Wilson emphasized that “all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.”
