The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has announced the temporary closure of the Laurel Road bridge over Middle Branch Brushy Creek in Pickens County. The closure is necessary for repairs, which are anticipated to be completed by the end of the year.

During this period, a detour route has been established to guide motorists. According to SCDOT, “Laurel Road is open to local traffic only, except at the bridge site.” Drivers are urged to “slow down and pay attention to signs and crews when driving through the area.”

For those traveling southbound on Laurel Road (S-39-230), the detour directs them to take Calhoun Memorial Highway (US-123) to South B Street ramp (R-5374), then continue south on Brushy Creek Road (S-39-29) back to Laurel Road. Northbound travelers will be directed via Brushy Creek Road (S-39-29) to access Calhoun Memorial Highway (US-123) northward, returning to Laurel Road.

Further details about the detour can be accessed through a map provided by SCDOT.
